Essentra Filter Products

The Jarrow MP met with Essentra Human Resources Manager Mr Simon Thomas and new Site Manager Patrick Love, who started his new role in January 2015.
Mr Hepburn was also given a tour of the company facility and was pleased to chat to some of the 240-strong workforce who work at the Jarrow site.
Essentra Filtering Products, which was formerly named Filtrona until it was re-branded in June 2013, has been developing filters since filtered cigarettes first became popular in the 1940s.  The company has grown to make significant investment worldwide in countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Mexico and the United States.
Stephen Hepburn MP said:
“It was a pleasure to meet with Simon and Patrick and the staff at Essentra Filter Products and to be kept informed about the company.
“The Essentra manufacturing operation is an extremely important business in Jarrow and has been for many years.
“Many of the local workforce at the facility live in South Tyneside and live in the immediate surrounding area of the factory.
“I wish the company well for the future.”
