Stephen Hepburn MP for the Jarrow Constituency paid a visit to Cleadon Church of England Academy as part of Parliament Week 2018.

The Jarrow MP met with the staff from Cleadon Church of England Academy, located on Boldon Lane, who have been learning about democracy, the role of an MP and how Parliament works.  Mr Hepburn, who visited the school on the day of the fundraising charity event Children In Need, was also given a tour of the school and took part in a Question and Answer session with the Year 5 and 6 pupils.

Parliament Week 2018 is a programme of events and activities that connects people with Parliament and democracy in the UK and ran from 12th to 18th November.

Stephen Hepburn MP said:

“One of the favourite parts of my job as a Member of Parliament is to visit our fantastic local schools and speak to their wonderful staff and children.

“I was extremely impressed by the knowledge of the pupils at Cleadon Church of England Academy.

“The children asked engaging and intelligent questions which really kept me on my toes.

“The questions showed the quality of education that these schools are providing and what a wonderful group of children are being brought up in our area.”
